Background Check Due Diligence: Why Is It Important for Small Businesses?

Background checking is a necessary procedure to verify the identity of a person. This is necessary to avoid hiring fraudulent people who are trying to infiltrate the organization either for malicious purposes.

Companies rely on records like police report and education to verify an individual, and they can also check someone’s employment history to verify if they were involved in previous disciplinary actions that could be detrimental to the growth of the company.

Aside from the corporate setting where background checking is a norm, all aspects of transactions involving money would require background checks, like purchasing a new car or house. Buying firearms would also require background checks, to verify that the buyer is not suffering from any mental issues that could drive them crazy and use their weapons to hurt others. There are various types of background checks, each with a different purpose.

1. Employment Background Check

This is performed by a company towards an individual who is trying to apply for a job. They are running background checks so that they could prevent hiring somebody who has ill-intent of entering the company. People with bad records can be a liability to the company, and as a result, more than 70% of all employers in the country are running background checks to make sure that no one with a bad record will be joining the company. An employment background check would rely on the applicant’s previous working history, and the company could work with the previous organizations that an applicant has worked for in the past to verify all of the information that he or she provided.

2. Criminal Background Check

it is important to check the criminal records of a person or an organization to verify if they have been involved in a major crime. Employment, firearm purchase, military enlistment, and adoption procedures would require a criminal background check, and if the individual tests positive for any crimes that they did in the past, they might not be able to get the job that they wanted, or be enlisted in the military. They could also be prohibited from buying a gun or from adopting a child because of the previous criminal records attached to their names. The information about the criminal records of an individual can be accessed with the help from the police or the FBI.

3. Universal Background Checks

the National Instant Background Check System can perform universal background check especially when someone wanted to purchase a firearm. There are factors that should be considered before someone can purchase a firearm, and it includes the condition that an individual should not be involved in any felony offenses or convictions. Universal background checks are also applied to prevent terrorist threats and other violence that can arise from someone who is suspicious. With universal background checks in place, a high sense of security can be enjoyed.

4. OIG Background Checks

this is conducted by the office of the Inspector General to prevent people with fraudulent past to be eligible for social services and other benefits from the government. This is required to ensure that everyone will be treated fairly, and all of the benefits provided by the government will be given to everyone who deserves it. There are people who are included in a sanction that does not deserve any assistance from the social security department, and they can be detected with OIG Background Checks. Companies who will fail to detect people who had previous fraudulent cases especially with their social security benefits could face heavy penalties.

Other types of background checks include fingerprint background checks, which will require someone to submit a digital pair of their fingerprints and it will be matched into the database, sorting profiles to verify if it belongs to someone else. Criminal history is also a form of background check that would enable an organization to detect if a person applying for them deserves to join them. Credit Background Check, on the other hand, is used by financial institutions to verify those who are trying to get financial assistance.

In a private equity due diligence investigation, background checks are important especially for trying to verify the identity of an individual, and it will help small businesses in hiring the best person.

[How To] - Insert and Embed Any PDF Files in Blogger

I have been using Blogger for a very long time (as a matter of fact, it's the CMS I have use the longest). However, a lot of people complain about its limitation which am afraid is true, unlike WordPress.

When I was actively using Blogger, I was able to overcome some limitations due to my knowledge about the web, and styling but for newbies, it can be a pain.

Today, I decided to see if I can scale through a certain limitation too - which is Embedding PDF files in Blogger and it works.

In the sample below, I use a PDF i hosted on my brand website as a case study.

Embed PDF Files in Blogger (Example)

I'll be sharing the code I used as an update on this post as I couldn't share it right now due to an unresolved issue within the styling of this blog.

P.S - If you are using the Google Blogger CMS Platform, you might also want to check the other tonnes of articles which I have written in the past on Blogspot here

Nigerian Vegetables and Their Benefits

Recently i was to do a little research about Vegetables for a formal purpose. After digging up the pieces of information that i needed, i was fascinated at the discovery and i thought some of the info would come handy for me and my readers too so i decides to post them here(not the exact way i did for that formal purpose though).

nigerian_vegetables_benefits

The information i wanted to share includes the English names of some Nigerian Vegetables and the popular names lots of people knew them of.
Also, before i bring this post to an end, i will try to mention benefits of the vegetables.
Without much further ado, lets CUT the CAKE of this POST;)

Nigerian Leaf Vegetables are plants that are grown for food that is; can be cooked for eating although some can be used for other purposes (which will be explained later on this post).
There are lots and different species of vegetable in Nigeria so much that its almost impossible for someone in the country to know them all. However there are some, that are very common so much that people are familiar with them.
Some of the common leaf vegetables in Nigeria are;

  • Bitter Leaf
    Yoruba Name - Ewuro
  • African Spinach
    Yoruba Name - Efo Tete
  • Lagos Spinach
    Yoruba Name - Efo Shoko
  • Water Leaves
    Yoruba Name - Gbure
  • Scent Leaf
    Yoruba Name - Efinrin

( Find Out The Reason Why You Should Consider Measuring Your Food Intake)

Having known some of these vegetables, lets take a look into the benefits of leaf vegetables which are mentioned below;

  1. Generally, Vegetables when consumed is said to help in lowering the risk of some diseases in human body.
  2. Based on Research, Leaf Vegetables does not contain unhealthy fats and this makes it safe to consume.
  3. Locally, it can be used for medicinal purposes taking the SCENT LEAF known as EFINRIN for example.
The Scent Leaf by following some certain procedure (which the yorubas usually do) can help in curing malaria.
  4. Vegetables is also said to naturally helps in improving eyesight and vision.
I knew only of a spice called locust beans (IRU), never had the slightest idea that vegetables can also helps in improvising eyesight.

Although i don't usually eat vegetables despite that my mom loved it so much;) but with the above benefits i just discover, i think i will try to include it in my diet cos health is wealth.

Do you like vegetables / is there another vegetable you knew that were not mentioned in this post, let me know your thought by revealing them in the comment box?

How You See Yourself Or How People See You?

Sometimes if not often, you might have asked yourselve that "does how i see myself matter or what people think of me?

The truth is; the fact remains the same and unchanged that you're Yourself, not any or another person's self. Am not saying when you're doing wrong or unlawful things, you shouldn't take heed to the good advice people say. Of course people can be right "sometimes" but not "all the times." am talking about better things you're thinking of starting.
Taking for Example; When you're creating an Invention or starting up an idea and then you introduce it to someone to ask of his/her opinion hoping for words of advice and encouragement but instead the person discourage you with no proper or suitable reason!
Then the next thing, you allow the person's comment to enter your powerful mind and give Up even when you knew what you're about to start will be of benefits to you and other people! Absolutely you suppose not to!.
Your destiny and Success is in your hand and not in other's people hand. When Mark Zuckerberg started facebook, some of his colleagues discouraged him but he kept on believing in himself that he will surely make it and finally he did!. Facebook is one of or let me say the biggest social networking website in the whole world! Isn't that amazing?
There was even one of my favourite Indian movie of mine, 3 idiots, Joy Lobo was trying to make a Mini-Helicopter. (which can fly and also be used to capture video in its motion) The invention was given to him as a project and has a deadline for submission and just when he was about to finished it, the School Manager discouraged him by telling him the deadline had reached and he(Joy Lobo) gave up! In which the invention was later completed by another person. Before i end this post, the pic used in this post means We see the animal as a small cat(a low animal), but the animal believe in himself that he is like a mighty Lion( which can do something big and better).
Believe in yourself too,if people sees you as a failure, goto the mirror, look yourself and point to your image that "am a Winner" if you can do this, you have already won even before you start!

Stay Blessed.
